Quilter has hired Simon Durling as investment director with responsibility for promoting Quilter’s full range of investment propositions, such as the WealthSelect Managed Portfolio Service and the Cirilium portfolio range, to advisers and external audiences.

He will report into Andy Miller, lead investment director.

Durling (pictured) joins Quilter with over 35 years of industry experience across asset management, wealth management and financial services, having worked for various firms including Santander Asset Management, St James’s Place, and Barclays Bank.

He most recently held the role of senior commercial strategist at Santander Asset Management, where he was responsible for improving investment and marketing content, in addition taking active role in investment risk, performance governance, adviser/client education, advice process and adviser training.

He also acted as a market commentator too as the author of the weekly blog, ‘State of Play’, which has a regular readership of several thousand clients.

Durling’s hire follows a triple investment director hire within Miller’s team earlier this year. Ryan Medlock and Filippo Madonia both joined from Royal London, while Nick Davison arrived from Liontrust, in a move to provide further support to financial advisers with its investment solutions.

Miller said: “We are delighted for Simon to be joining us at Quilter, where he will support advisers and their clients, giving them the tools needed to promote the value of our investment solutions.

“Simon brings invaluable expertise into the business, with a proven track record and excellent reputation within the industry that has been built up over 35 years. He possesses the skillset and experience to lead from the front and communicate clearly with our advisers, supporting them with the investment advice process.”

Durling said: “I am thrilled to be joining Quilter at an exciting growth phase for the business. Quilter has a long-standing reputation for supporting advisers with industry-leading investment solutions, and I look forward to helping advisers deliver great value and exceptional service to their clients.”
