Sycomore Asset Management

Sycomore Asset Management has taken on David Rainville as co-manager of the Sycomore Sustainable Tech fund, where he will work alongside equity fund manager Luca Fasan and SRI analyst Marie Vallaeys. 

In his new role, David will co-manage the sustainable strategy launched in 2020 employing an innovative socially responsible investment approach. 

The strategy is founded upon a Responsible Tech Charter which provides a framework for identifying companies that offer products and services with positive contributions for society or that use technology in a responsible manner to reduce negative externalities. 

As a conviction-driven manager, he has around 10 years' experience in financial markets and has developed a global expertise which will benefit the entire Sycomore investment team.

Rainville, 30, began his career in 2015 with Barclays Investment Bank in London, and later New York, where he served as an equity analyst. He joined Emmett Partners in 2019 as a global analyst responsible for fundamental research covering the Technology, Internet, Media, Consumer Goods, and Industrial sectors. In 2021, he moved to Tudor Investment Corporation, serving as an analyst specialising in the technology sector.

Nucleus Commercial Finance 

Nucleus Commercial Finance (Nucleus), the solution-led fintech provider, has further strengthened its Group Board with the appointment of Deborah Hardy as an external non-executive director.

With a diverse career background within executive and operational roles, Deborah has over 30 years' experience and expertise in the overseeing and delivery of strong corporate governance and meeting high DE&I standards. 

Alongside her non-exec role on the board, she is currently Director of two companies, based in the UK and a further company based in Malta.  All of these roles have a focus on operations, delivery and best proactive administration.

As part of the group board, she will be contributing to maintaining the effectiveness of internal and external operations and further strengthening relationships between Nucleus' UK and India based firms, ensuring high quality management between the dual strands of the business, and assisting in the maintenance of Nucleus' high-quality focus on its people.

Meeting staff engagement and productivity across the two continents is of great importance to her role and key objectives this year onwards. 

She is also an approved individual in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to perform a Senior Management Function.

Canada Life 

Canada Life has appointed Dave Sutton as its' new customer services director, replacing Tracy Woodward who moves across to take up the role of director of compliance and regulatory affairs.

He was previously head of business management (COO office) and has been appointed following a thorough internal and external search. He has been with Canada Life for 22 years in a variety of roles across operations, change strategy and wealth, and lives on the Isle of Man.

Woodward moves into the role of director of compliance and regulatory affairs, and is responsible for relationships with the UK regulators. Her appointment follows a thorough internal and external search process following the departure of Steve Cameron in December 2022.

Stonehage Fleming

Stonehage Fleming has named Sarah Bartram-Lora Reina as a trustee director in the Jersey Family Office Division.

She has over 30 years' of experience in the financial services industry covering retail, private and investment banking; as well as trust and corporate services. 

She joins Stonehage Fleming from Ocorian Limited, where she was an executive director. Prior to this, Sarah was a client director at Zedra Trust Company (Jersey) Limited (formerly Barclays Private Bank & Trust Company Limited). 

She is president of JATCo and was named in Citywealth's Top 20 Trustees in 2023.

She is based in Jersey and will report directly to Richard Stride, head of family office Jersey. Her role is effective immediately. 

Also joining Stonehage Fleming's Jersey Family Office team is Claire Strecker as a director in Risk & Compliance. She joins from Hawksford where she was a fund compliance manager.

Additional hires of Ashley Correia, client relationship manager, Kim Wink, compliance manager, and Henry Mehigan as senior client accountant, have also been made. All roles are effective immediately.

Muzinich & Co

Muzinich & Co has promoted Andrew Tan to chief executive officer, Asia Pacific.

He  has over 20 years' industry experience and a deep knowledge of financial markets, having worked across a range of functions including sourcing, structuring, execution, risk taking and distribution in both public and private credit markets in the Asia Pacific. 

Tan said: "Our dedicated focus on corporate credit, combined with more than three decades of investment experience, enhances and strengthens our ability to provide customised credit solutions in public and private markets to a wider, more sophisticated client base that is growing in the region."

Justin Muzinich, chief executive officer, Muzinich & Co added: "Andrew joined Muzinich in 2020 as Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific Private Debt where he has successfully led the launch of the strategy, its investments and capital raising efforts in a nascent and fast-growing area of private debt."

Along with his new responsibilities,he will continue to be lead portfolio manager and investment committee member for the Muzinich Asia Pacific Private Debt strategy. 

Belasko 

Belasko has appointed Tom Lambrechts as client services director to support the continued growth of the business and lead the Guernsey funds team.  

Prior to joining Belasko, Tom held the position of client director at a global fund administrator. He has extensive experience in corporate governance and establishing high-performing teams servicing a varied portfolio of private capital clients. Tom graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc (Hons) in Business and is a qualified chartered accountant (ICAEW).

Mourant Consulting 

Mourant has hired financial services regulation specialist Manus Carvill as the new associate director of Mourant Consulting, its global specialist consulting business. 

Carvill joins the fast-growing Mourant Consulting team based in the firm's Guernsey office, which also includes Sally Rochester, who was appointed Director in September 2022.

He brings with him a wealth of experience in financial services regulation, with particular expertise in the banking and insurance sectors. 

Prior to joining Mourant Consulting, he held the role of deputy director of the Banking and Insurance Division at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC). Whilst at the GFSC, he worked in banking and insurance policy and supervision, and headed up the authorisations unit.

He was project lead for the assessment of Guernsey by the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and represented the GFSC on various international Sustainability bodies. As Deputy Director, he also sat on governance panels for policy and enforcement as well as complex or higher-impact licensees.
