High profile industry figure Martin Gilbert, founder of Aberdeen Asset Management in the early 1980s and much more, is to join the board of Blevins Franks.

Blevins Franks, tax and wealth management advisers to UK nationals living in Europe, has been providing specialist financial planning advice to British expatriates for 45 years, with offices in France, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus and Malta.

John Stone, chairman of Blevins Franks, said: "I have known Martin for over 30 years as an investor and NED in Lombard International which I founded in 1991.

"Martin has also enjoyed a long-term relationship with Blevins Franks.  So I am delighted that, having known us for all these years, he has agreed to join our Board.  His insights and market knowledge will be invaluable."

Gilbert said: "I have known and admired Blevins Franks for many years.  It is a great business that enjoys a commanding position in the provision of tax and wealth management advice to British expatriates in Europe.

"This niche market will continue to grow as more wealthy families choose to retire abroad.  For these families the specialist, expert advice of Blevins Franks is essential to ensure that they invest tax-efficiently in their new country of residence."
