Global asset manager BNY Investments has named Masaaki Sakakibara as its head of Japan, reporting to Doni Shamsuddin, the company’s chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific.
Sakakibara (pictured) joins BNY Investments from Mercer Japan, where he was its wealth business country leader and CEO of Mercer Investments (Japan).
Earlier in his career he was the head of sales, client service and marketing of Western Asset Management Japan and he also held sales positions at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
BNY Investments is one of the world’s largest asset managers, managing almost $2trn across a range of traditional and alternative assets.
Shamsuddin said: “Masaaki brings a wealth of experience managing multi-disciplinary business. His track record of driving business growth will be vital to our long-term success in Japan.”
