Quilter's commercial and proposition director David Tiller has died at the age of 56.
Tiller passed away on 28 December while walking with friends in the Lake District.
According to a report from the Keswick Mountain Rescue team, Tiller sat down tired near the summit of Crag Hill, before collapsing unconscious.
999 was called and his friends performed CPR. Due to weather and visibility, a Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was not able to land. According to the report there was nothing the team could do to save Tiller when they arrived on the scene.
In a press release Steven Levin, CEO of Quilter said: "We are all desperately saddened by the news of David's passing and our condolences and thoughts are with his family at this time.
"We have benefited from David's deep industry knowledge, and I feel grateful to have worked with him. He had already made a significant impact in our business and had brought together people from across our proposition, product and marketing teams to help us create more compelling client and adviser propositions. He will be greatly missed by us all at Quilter."
Tiller has been in the industry for a long time, including over 20 years at Standard Life, now abrdn, where he held various roles, including most recently global head of client technology solutions.
He joined Quilter in September last year to lead its commercial and proposition teams.
Several members of the industry have already shared tributes to Tiller across social media.
Bella Caridade-Ferreira, CEO of Fundscape, posted on LinkedIn: "I am heartbroken to hear that David Tiller has passed away. Another untimely death in our industry.
"David had a bottomless well of knowledge on the advice, platform and retail wealth management industries and was one of the people I turned to for help, information and platform advice. He will be sorely missed."
