Jersey Finance has joined the World Alliance of International Financial Centers after its membership was approved at the WAIFC's Annual General Meeting on 20 October.
Established in 2018, and headquartered in Brussels, the WAIFC is a strategic initiative and non-profit association that represents leading international financial centres and facilitates cooperation and the exchange of best practices.
Jersey Finance now joins 19 other WAIFC members and a community of six other Observer centres.
Joe Moynihan, CEO, Jersey Finance, said: "As an IFC that has been supporting global investors for more than six decades, we have watched the efforts and activities of the WAIFC with interest over recent years and as an Observer over the past year. Collaboration and cooperation are at the heart of our ethos as an IFC and we are now very much looking forward to working together with our fellow members of WAIFC and exchanging best practices."
Marketing commitment
Alongside the announcement of its WAIFC membership, Jersey Finance has also put in place additional marketing resource to support its positioning.
The organisation has appointed Louise Burrows as its new head of Marketing, with Mialy Oporia promoted to senior communications manager.
Burrow's takes on overall responsibility for the organisation's marketing department, including brand, communications, events and its digital platforms. She brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, including in financial institutions HSBC and Deutsche Bank. Formerly a head of Marketing across the Crown Dependencies for a telecommunications and data centre company, she joined Jersey Finance in 2020 as a communications manager before gaining the Head of Marketing role.
Oporiay has worked as communications manager at Jersey Finance since 2017 and has more than 15 years' experience in the industry, including in London where she managed local government communication and campaign programmes as well as managing communications for global retail brands. She will specifically support Jersey Finance's burgeoning relationships in Africa and Asia.
