Carmignac has expanded its UK client management team with the hire of a head of business development, as the firm seeks to grow its presence in the country.

Gavin Ward will be responsible for UK business development, including leading the team of specialists. In this role, he will work across all client segments including retail, wholesale and institutional investors.

Ward joined Carmignac in September 2023 from Invesco, where he had worked since 2014 and most recently as head of discretionary clients.

He started his career at Aviva in 1996 and subsequently specialised in fund distribution to financial institutions for Fidelity then abrdn.

Reporting to the global head of sales, Martial Godet, Ward will help to grow Carmignac's UK business and improve its market penetration.

This will include developing and delivering strategic third-party and institutional business development initiatives. He will also be responsible for identifying new areas for growth and bringing those ideas from concept to execution.

Godet said: "Gavin has a proven track record in growing client relationships, working across a variety of asset classes and market segments. 

"His knowledge, experience and network in the UK will be highly beneficial as we develop our business in this key market."

The appointment follows the departure of the firm's head of UK distribution David Robson after more then seven years in February.
