Specialist asset management boutique, Amati Global Investors has appointed Gregor Paterson as analyst within the firm’s UK Small Cap team.

Bringing 25 years’ UK capital markets experience, he will work for the most part alongside founder and CEO, Dr Paul Jourdan and David Stevenson on the Edinburgh-based firm’s VCT.

Paterson began his investment career in 1999 with Grieg Middleton & Co as an investment manager, joining Bell Lawrie as an equity analyst in 2002, covering an array of UK small and mid-cap stocks. He moved to Edinburgh and into corporate broking in 2008, holding senior positions at Cenkos, Cantor Fitzgerald, and Zeus Capital.

Paterson has a MA in economics from the University of Aberdeen, is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute for Securities and Investment, and more recently undertook the CFA Institute's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Certificate.

Jourdan said: “Gregor has extensive UK equity market experience, developed over more than 20 years, and predominantly focused on small and mid-cap companies. He brings considerable market facing experience, analysing and advising listed companies, from early stage VCT qualifying companies to FTSE constituents across a broad range of sectors, through numerous economic cycles.

"We are very much looking forward to working with Gregor as part of our UK Equities team.”

Paterson said: “I have known the Amati team for many years and followed closely their impressive growth and successful navigation of the UK markets. I am delighted to be joining such a thoughtful and experienced team and believe my own experience will complement that of the wider firm. I look forward to making a significant contribution to Amati’s ongoing success.”
