UBP has hired two senior portfolio managers and a senior portfolio advisor and strategist to bolster its emerging market fixed income capabilities.

Jack Deino and Raphaël Maréchal joined the team as senior portfolio managers in October and July, respectively. Alonso Perez-Kakabadse joined in April as senior portfolio advisor and strategist.

Prior to joining the firm, Deino served eight years at BlackRock, where he was most recently head of emerging market corporate debt. Before joining BlackRock, he was head of emerging market portfolio management at Invesco.

Maréchal previously worked at Nikko Asset Management, where he was head portfolio manager of emerging market fixed income. He brings almost 30 years' experience across fixed income, emerging market analysis and portfolio management.

Perez-Kakabadse spent nearly five years at Wellington Management as a portfolio manager. He has also held roles with Caxton, SAC and Moore Capital.

Their arrival brings the team of portfolio managers, credit analysts, strategists and investment specialists to eleven, spread between London, Zurich and Hong Kong.

The firm has developed its emerging market fixed income product range and implemented a new investment process integrating responsible investment. The offering spans the emerging market debt industry, from sovereign and corporate to local debt.

These hires come on the back of Sergio Trigo Paz's recruitment as head of emerging market fixed income from BlackRock in September 2022.

Trigo Paz said: "These three new joiners' long-standing expertise in emerging market credit, local and long/short strategies, and in-depth understanding of emerging markets will enhance our investment capabilities and contribute to driving long-term value for our clients.

"I am convinced that we now have the optimal setup to embark onto the next phase of our development."
