The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority has issued a Sanctions Update note covering Iran, Russia, Syria and Sudan.

The Update on Iran concerns human rights-related issues, and constitutes an update to an entry on an individual still subject to an asset freeze brought on by his involvement in "the commission of serious human rights violations in Iran, including being responsible for, engaging in and promoting violations of the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly."

That Update on Russia concerns an individual subect to an asset freeze and trust services sanctions who "has been obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Government of Russia by working for the Government of Russia, as a regional Governor of the City of Sevastopol (2016-2019) and as a Deputy Minister of a Ministry of the Russian Federation (2019-2020) [and] has been involved in destabilising Ukraine or undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine by being responsible for, engaging in, providing support for, and promoting policies and actions which destabilise Ukraine or undermines or threatens the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine."

Regarding Syria, the IoM FSA has updated its note on the General Trading Licence for engaging in trade with that country. It has also updated the register of sanctioned individuals noting simultanously that an individual has been "removed from the Conslidated List and is no longer subject to an asset freeze" but also describing them as "involved in money laundering and commercial activities in support to the Syrian regime and its associates."

Regarding Sudan, the Update is focused on companies that are supplying the competing groups fighting in that country's civil war - either the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) or the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
