Capstone Investment Advisors the global alternative investment management firm, has expanded into Asia with the opening of an office in Hong Kong.
In a statement on 7 September, Paul Britton, founder and CEO of Capstone Investment Advisors, said: "As part of our long-term vision to build Capstone's position as the leader in derivatives in the investment management industry, we are committed to developing our investment capabilities globally."
"In the next decade, we believe that Asia will be as important to our business as North America and Europe. With the continued growth of our flagship investment strategy and several key investment hires in Hong Kong, our goal is to develop further our sources of alpha in the region."
Jonathan Sorrell, president of Capstone Investment Advisors, added: "We are pleased to launch our office in Hong Kong. This is the first step of a long-term strategy that will see us develop our investment presence in the region."
Alain Bordoni has been appointed chief operating officer to establish Capstone's Hong Kong office and support the firm's growth in the region. Over the next several years, Capstone intends to build out its investment team in Hong Kong and throughout Asia.
Capstone's Hong Kong office opened in July 2022 following regulatory approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. The office is located in Central, with eight employees, including investment and infrastructure teams.
Capstone is a global, alternative investment management firm operating across a broad range of derivatives-based strategies with a deep understanding of volatility.
With approximately $8.9bn of AUM and 242 employees (as of August 1), Capstone was established in 2004 and is headquartered in New York with offices in Stamford, Boston, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong.
