AXA Global Healthcare has launched the phased rollout of a new healthcare payment card2 to simplify the claims process for the company’s corporate clients and their employees.
The healthcare payment card is the first step on AXA - Global Healthcare’s roadmap to providing their members with a digital wallet where they can easily store and access what they need to use their international health insurance policy.
The healthcare payment card consists of a virtual card which members can add to their Apple or Google Wallet. The card enables members to pay for eligible outpatient treatments, such as over-the-counter prescriptions, without using their own funds and without having to submit a claim.
Research conducted across AXA - Global Healthcare’s international community of business customers found that members submit a substantial amount of low-value, self-pay claims every year, although they said they dislike making these claims against their policy. The level of time and administration involved emerged as the main reasons for this.3
The healthcare payment card has been developed to resolve this pain point for members by simplifying the process once they’ve received outpatient treatment.
The virtual card can be used to pay for treatment at any healthcare provider worldwide that offers a contactless VISA payment method,4 not just the 1.9 million providers within AXA - Global Healthcare’s international network.
The rollout consists of several carefully selected corporate groups who have been invited to register and generate their virtual card. Once the card has been added to their digital wallet, it can be used to pay for treatment.
The member does not need to contact AXA - Global Healthcare to pre-authorise their treatment before using their virtual card. The only thing left to do once they’ve made their payment is to upload a copy of the provider invoice to their AXA - Global Healthcare Card app5.
The rollout will enable AXA - Global Healthcare to monitor the process, measure the success of the service and make any refinements to their offering ahead of a full launch to their wider customer base.
Andy Edwards, managing director at AXA - Global Healthcare comments: “We’re pleased to be launching our new healthcare payment card as the first step to giving our members a wallet of services from which they can access their international private medical insurance policy.
