Rathbones Investment Management has appointed James Kyle as regional director in its Newcastle office as his predecessor Nick Swales retires.

Kyle (pictured), who has worked at Rathbones as an investment director since it opened the office in 2013, has supported clients, including entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals, in managing their investment portfolios. As regional director, he will take a leadership role in growing the office and Rathbones brand in the region while continuing to manage and develop client relationships.

Swales recently retired from his role as office head at Rathbones after more than a decade at the company. Having first been recruited to open a Rathbones office in the North East, he has been instrumental in building the business in the city and expanding its reach in the region.

Swales said: “It has been a privilege to work at Rathbones and play a part in the office’s growth. Having first joined in 2013 to set up the local office, I am deeply proud of what the team has achieved in the region and the growth of our network of clients and colleagues alike.

"I now hand the baton over to James who has been an instrumental part of the team and have every confidence he will continue our growth trajectory. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to watching Rathbones’ success in the future.”

James Kyle, regional director, at Rathbones: “Nick is a fundamental pillar of the business community in the region and has set a real precedent for the role he is leaving. He has driven substantial business growth in the North East and the team will miss him dearly. I look forward to this new opportunity to help drive the business forward and I hope to continue Nick’s legacy.”
