Bankers from across 10 Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will have their professional skills and lifelong learning boosted with access to the CISI’s world-class member learning platform.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) said in a statement it had confirmed an agreement with the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA).

This means ABA will make available, publish and promote CISI’s continuing professional development (CPD) programs through the ABA portal.

The process for registering ABA members for the CISI CPD programs, including professional refresher modules, is detailed on the ABA website, and users can apply on a course-by-course basis.

The arrangement will allow ABA members access to CISI’s state-of-the-art learning platform. The platform contains over 2,000 learning items, curated by subject or type, allowing upskilling and continuing professional development (CPD).

The CISI learning platform includes live webinars on CISI TV, recorded content on CISI’s YouTube channel, podcasts and cutting-edge articles in CISI’s The Review magazine.

The new arrangement will permit access to the CISI learning platform for designated staff at the following 10 ABA member banks:

• The Brunei Association of Banks
• The Association Banks in Cambodia
• Indonesian Banks Association (PERBANAS)
• Lao Banker’s Association
• The Association of Banks in Malaysia
• Myanmar Banks Association
• Bankers Association of the Philippines
• The Association of Banks in Singapore
• The Thai Bankers’ Association
• Vietnam Banks Association

Founded in 1976, the ABA is committed to raising banking professional standards, and integrity and increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and competence.

Helena Wilson Chartered MCSI, CISI assistant director, global business development said: “The CISI and ABA collaboration is a great opportunity to bring globally recognized skills and training to the region and we are very proud to be able to partner with the ABA. In a rapidly changing world, when we are all likely to have to work for longer, it has never been more important to keep knowledge and skills up to date and stay relevant.

"Our research has shown that soft skills such as coaching, creative thinking, empathy and teamwork, as well as skills in data analytics, literacy and insights have been identified as some of the most important and the CISI supports firms and individuals in these areas. Our Certificate in Ethical AI is also now live and being endorsed by the Lord Mayor of the City of London on his global tour.

"The CISI’s modules are now available for purchase through the ABA’s Online portal – if you would like to hear more about how we can bring these to you please let us know!”

Paul C G Gwee, ABA Secretary General (pictured), said: “CISI will provide officers and professionals from our member banking institutions throughout ASEAN with access to diverse educational resources and training programs, enabling them to remain current and aligned with the newest developments in the banking and financial industry sectors. By utilizing the ABA’s Training Portal, we are pleased to introduce CISI’s banking education programs to all ten of our national banking associations.”
